What Were You or Someone You Knew Counseled For That Was Ridiculous?

some elders frowned on mustaches or hair that went past a certain point on a male.
women were regularly harassed because their skirt was too long or too short or had a slit on the side.

@minimus: No, this somehow got out because we were quite open with some friends and some of this information somehow travelled. So we were eventually counseled on 'using our body parts for proper things' or some such non-sense.
Quite interesting, I'm in no way uneasy about talking about stuff like that, even back then to the elders, so we had a broad discussion about things that were and weren't allowed in the bedroom. The elders were quite embarrassed about the 'breadth' of my knowledge, some things that the Watchtower just doesn't cover for some reason.
After I quit the JW's I eventually joined some member-only clubs (eg. The Crucible in Washington, DC) to explore that area a bit further .

It is well known that Kamala Harris 'slept' her way to the top, notoriously being the mistress of various powerful Democrats when she was an up-and-coming politician. Some several decades older than her.
One of those was Willie Brown, mayor of San Francisco, he was a married 60-year old mayor and she was 29. Willie Brown and other activists in her circle have subsequently said "she slept her way to the top" and that those relationships had neither "love nor physical attraction". Some allegations in tweets have since been deleted.

I likewise never went to college because parents said I should get a vocational training and then pioneer because the end would come soon after I graduated (they believed it would be near 2000 after 1975 failed).
So I got my vocational training in electronics, educated myself in computers, after a ton of experience and after leaving the JW, I started my own business on the side and made my way into senior IT leadership which is where I'm at now.

The racial term 'black' has become sooo diluted
by LoveUniHateExams ini always understood the term 'black' (or 'black', if you write for the guardian) to refer to sub-saharan africans or people of sub-saharan african origin.. but, perhaps in a rush to embrace victimhood, more and more people are today are using the term black to refer to other people.. so, apparently barack obama is black - 'the first black president of the united states'.. and lewis hamilton is supposedly the only black driver in formula one.. and jordan peele is a black film director, apparently.. and then there's meghan markle.. there may also be people of pakistani heritage who refer to themselves as black.. and, sorry to say, it's all a load of bullsh*t.. barack obama, lewis hamilton, jordan peel, halle berry and meghan markle are all biracial (mixed-race).
they're not black.
disregarding the other half of their ethnic heritage is intellectually dishonest.. .

Depends on what you mean by black.
The term 'black people' can refer to a black skin color from African ancestry (as in not middle-eastern, asian or white). African in all these description means sub-Saharan because current day Africa also encompasses some of the Middle East which in itself encompasses some of Asia and Europe.
Historically African people can refer to any people that have a primary African ancestry (eg. in the UK, in the US)
African-Americans have historical ties to the establishment of America during slavery with African ancestry often described as black
To that effect, by the definitions of the words:
Obama was perhaps black (at least 50%), but he wasn't historically black nor African-American. His father didn't have ties to America, being from Kenya. He was not the first African-American president, we never had one of those.
Elon Musk isn't black nor African American but he is historically African.
Kamala Harris isn't black nor African American nor historically African. Her ancestry on her father's side is Carribean (which is a mix of primarily Hispanic origin, some Asian and a sprinkle of African) and Asian (mother from India) making her the first Asian or perhaps she can claim partially Hispanic VP, either way, we never had one of those. Neither of her parents were Americans or had any historical ties to America.

Over 285 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the United States from December 14, 2020, through May 24, 2021.
During this time, VAERS received 4,863 reports of death (0.0017%) among people who received a COVID-19 vaccine.
CDC and FDA physicians review each case report of death as soon as notified and CDC requests medical records to further assess reports. A review of available clinical information, including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records has not established a causal link to COVID-19 vaccines.
However, recent reports indicate a plausible causal relationship between the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine and a rare and serious adverse event—blood clots with low platelets—which has caused deaths.
Note that VAERS has currently recorded nearly 300,000 cases of severe side effects.

@OnTheWayOut: You do have to qualify statements like that. When you say someone is good or bad at their job, you generally have to qualify why before you hire or fire them. A general feeling isn't enough.
We can look at several score cards by which presidents are generally looked at in history:
- Economy
- War and peace
- Major policy changes
Feel free to do the comparisons between Obama, Trump and Biden.

Liberal vs. Conservative mental health study - what do you make of it?
by Brock Talon ina pew study from 2020 (but one i just now came upon myself) reported that the more liberal you are, the more likely you are to have a mental health condition.
the worst suffering group are white females, ages 18-29 where over 56% have admitted to be described by their own doctors as having a mental health condition.
conservative females of the same age group suffer at less than half that number (27%).. while women tend to have more mental health problems than men (don't be mad at me for saying it, this is what the study reports) it is notable that liberal men have a higher percentage of mental health conditions than conservative women in the same age group.
